    jury duty - selection

(9:50) thankfully, this hasn't been like some bad pauly shore movie ... so far. i've been sitting around since 8am, and now am preparing to enter a courtroom for the first time as a potential juror. we'll see how it goes.

(11:10) ok break is over and what started as 108 people (after hearing hardships and lame excuses) is down to roughly 30 and i'm still here ...

(12:00) we've been recessed for lunch and still have not finished the jury selection process. things are looking set in stone for me. unless either side of legal council opts to toss me out, i'm in for a 2 week sit, give or take. of course i can't get specific one way or the other, but this proves to be quite an experience. i'll have to come up with more creative titles should i continue blogs on this, but until now, i've literally posted the blog and powered off my phone as i entered the courtroom. clark kent i'm not, but reporting via blog is kinda fun all the same.

(12:50) now i understand the single parent w/o childcare issue, as well as the "my job won't cover 2 weeks of jury duty". that makes sense. but seriously, i'm unemployed? i take medication? what does this say of the people left? i'm have a morbid curiosity as to how this all works, but lets mask it as a sense of civil duty. now i'm stuck talking to this weirdo that just won't stop following me around. .. oh the joys of being approachable...

(4:35) we've been recessed for the day,(starting the trial on tuesday august 12th) and are down to 12 jurors and 2 alternates. as i am seated, i believe i am juror # 1.
